I started working with computers in 1983 when I was 14 when my father gave me a ZX81. In 1993 I got an Industrial engineering by ICAI and in 2000 Executive MBA by Instituto de Empresa.
I started my career in 1994 working in regulation and automation projects for the Oil and Gas industry at the automation division of ABB Industrial systems as a hardware and software engineer. I worked programming ABB controllers and UNIX systems and I became project manager very soon.
In 2000, I joined Hewlett Packard Consulting as project manager to create the mainframe migration office and to manage the open systems consulting practice. We worked for several innovative projects using robots to transform source code from mainframe COBOL-CICS-BD2 platforms into Unix COBOL-TUXEDO-ORACLE platforms. During these years at HP I worked for more than 30 different projects and customers.
In 2005 I decided to move as CIO of Pelayo group, a Spanish insurance company which was beginning a huge transformation project. During the following seven years we helped Pelayo on its transformation project. As responsible for IT I managed a team of more than 70 people who modernized Pelayo’s platforms, created the new contact center infrastructure (VoIP based), created new core applications such as home insurance claim management while reducing total IT costs and improving key metrics.
In 2012 I joined Correos group as Global CIO. I am leading a team of more than 250 internal people with more than 500 people in outsourcing contracts. At Correos we have also modernized all the main core applications, redefine the whole sourcing strategy and improved performance of the IT team. During the last 6 years we have invested more than 80 M€ in new solutions to support our global strategy.
As Correos CIO, I am member of the steering committee of Correos, member of the board of directors of Nexea (a Correos company) and Chairman of the board of directors of Correos Telecom (a Correos company)
